Two Film and Television BFA thesis films from Columbia College Chicago, "Adagio" and "Behind His Eyes," have been nominated for the 2024 National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences'(NATAS) Chicago/Midwest National Student Production Awards in the Long Form category. NATAS is the organization behind the Emmy awards.
"Adagio" tells the story of a teenage girl who must find healing after her brother's death by recounting memories and origami.
"The film explores siblings. The relationship between siblings is too often taken for granted... It's a connection I feel deeply passionate about depicting," says director Sawyer Weiman '24.
"Behind His Eyes" is also about personal struggle. It focuses on a young man who must acknowledge his vulnerability after receiving a challenging college assignment.
"This prestigious recognition is a testament to the hard work and creativity of our students [see list below], as well as to our faculty's guidance, mentorship, and dedication to their success. We couldn't be prouder of this achievement," says Wenhwa Tsao, co-director of Film and Television at Columbia College Chicago.
The award winners will be announced at the Chicago/Midwest Emmy ceremony on November 2 at the Swisshotel in Chicago.
