An innovative event to support people living with chronic pain is taking place next month.
The Persistent Pain Community Appointment Day (CAD) on Thursday 23 October will bring a number of organisations together under one roof so that people can get the support they need.
The event at the Beacon Arts Centre is the first CAD being held in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and is a new way of managing open events to make sure people coming along can get the most out of the day.
Anyone interested is asked to make a free appointment beforehand so that everyone has enough time to receive tailored support and advice.
Chair of Inverclyde Integration Joint Board - the organisation that manages Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), David Gould said:
"We know that 38 per cent of people are living with chronic pain in Scotland and it often goes unnoticed.
"We want people to know that we do see you and there is support available.
"This is the first Community Appointment Day being held in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and we want to make sure we get it right for the people of Inverclyde.
"When you come along, you will be able to talk about what matters to you, hear from professionals and chat to the organisations who can support you.
"Around 20 organisations will be there and there are more than 90 appointments available on the day so I would urge anyone to take the time to make an appointment.
"It's a simple process and will make sure you get the time you need to speak to people without feeling rushed."
On the day, guests will be given a personal health and wellbeing passport on arrival. This will be filled out following a one-to-one conversation about what they are looking for from the day. That will be followed by a pain information session lead by the senior pharmacist who has a special interest in chronic pain.
Guests are free to browse the stalls and share their passport so that it is clear what they are looking for.
There will also be a café area with free tea and coffee.
Participants are encouraged to come with a supporter but due to space restrictions, this is limited to one person. If more support is needed, get in touch with organisers.
Services and organisations taking part include: The Anchor, Advice 1st, Carers Gateway, CVS Inverclyde including the Community Link Workers, Employability & Skills, Gateway Walks, Inverclyde Centre for Independent Living, Inverclyde Libraries, Live Active, Mind Mosaic, Pain Concern, Primary Care Pharmacy Service, SAMH, Smoking Cessation Service, Technology Enabled Care, Versus Arthritis, Weight Management Service, Wise Group and Your Voice.
Information and support will be given on topics including your lifestyle, looking after yourself, feeling positive, managing symptoms, keeping connected, money advice, medicines, recovery or addiction, work, volunteering and other activities and support for carers.
The event will be held in the Beacon Arts Centre on Thursday 23 October between 11am and 4pm.
