I-74 work near Brimfield begins March 5

BRIMFIELD - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that construction on the Interstate 74 bridges over Peoria County Highway 69 west of Brimfield begins March 5.

The westbound bridge will close on March 6, with traffic diverted to the eastbound span in a head-to-head configuration. Work on the westbound span is expected to be complete in early October.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
