Transit Driver Appreciation Day

March 17, 2026 - ROCHESTER, MN - On Wednesday, March 18, the City of Rochester will join communities across the country in celebrating Transit Driver Appreciation Day, recognizing the dedication and professionalism of the drivers who keep our city moving every day.

Transit drivers do more than operate buses - they provide safe, reliable transportation, assist riders with care, and help make public transit accessible for everyone. Whether it's braving Minnesota winters, navigating busy streets or offering a friendly smile, these drivers are essential to our community.

"Transit drivers are the backbone of our transportation system," said Rachel Fautsch, Transit & Parking Director. "They keep Rochester connected, building relationships, learning our community and providing an essential skill. Their dedication makes it for people to live, work and thrive in our community."

To mark the occasion, the City Hall dome will be illuminated in blue and green on March 18, symbolizing appreciation for Rochester Public Transit (RPT) and ZIPS paratransit drivers.

RPT and ZIPS encourage riders and community members to take a moment on March 18 to recognize these hardworking professionals who make public transit possible.
