NASS Corrects September 2026 Corn Data; October 2026 Forecasts Unchanged

Issued October 23, 2026, by the Agricultural Statistics Board of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Statistics Service. For more information, contact Bryan Combs at (202) 720-5084 or [email protected].

After concerns were raised following the October 9, 2026, Crop Production report, NASS found a processing error that affected September corn plant populations, ear counts, yields, and production for Kansas and Nebraska. The error also affected the September 10-state averages for plant populations and ear counts, along with U.S. corn yield and production forecasts.

NASS has corrected the affected September data and forecasts in the Crop Production reports and Quick Stats. The October forecasts published on October 9 were reviewed, validated, and have not changed.

All NASS reports will be available at www.nass.usda.gov/Publications
