Meeting with the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Zou Jiayi

On February 14, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honourable Emomali Rahmon, received the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Ms. Zou Jiayi.

The Head of State congratulated Ms. Zou Jiayi on her election to this high position and welcomed her first visit to Tajikistan.

During the meeting, Emomali Rahmon, commending the current level of cooperation and the Bank's contribution to the implementation of the country's priority socioeconomic development areas, expressed gratitude to its leadership.

It was emphasized that the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is one of Tajikistan's important partners in developing modern infrastructure and advancing a sustainable and green growth agenda.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of priority investment projects, including the Rogun Hydropower Plant (HPP) construction project and the continued reconstruction of the Nurek Hydropower Plant (HPP). Prospects for expanding cooperation in energy, transport and urban infrastructure, water resources management, climate change adaptation, and digitalization and energy efficiency were also discussed. The importance of attracting long-term financing, improving project implementation mechanisms, and strengthening institutional capacity was stressed.

Noting their commitment to strengthening long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation, the parties expressed confidence that the agreements reached will give new impetus to the further development of the strategic partnership between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
