HACU’s 31st National Capitol Forum participants visit Capitol Hill
Members of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities gathered in Washington, D.C., for the 31st National Capitol Forum on Higher Education, held April 21-22, 2026, to advocate for and support Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). The Forum included delegations to Capitol Hill by participants from 88 colleges/universities and partners from 21 states.
Speakers during the morning plenary "Advocating for HSIs," focused on the importance of HSIs to the nation's future and prosperity, and provided guidance on effectively advocating for legislative priorities that best serve these institutions and their students.
On Capitol Hill, HACU President Antonio R Flores spoke at a press event and emphasized the importance of Minority-Serving Institutions programs and funding support. Attendees participated in congressional visits, engaging in meetings with senators, representatives and their staff. The day concluded with a Capitol Forum Reception.
