Creative Greensboro invites the community to celebrate new public art installations that transform Greensboro bus shelters into vibrant expressions of culture, identity, and belonging. The celebration will take place at 4 pm on Monday, October 19, at the New Arrivals Institute (NAI), 2714 West Market St. Attendees will hear from community members who helped shape the artwork, and artist Sachi Dely, who brought their stories and designs to life. The event will also feature the unveiling of designs for the third and final bus shelter installation, scheduled for early 2027.
Through Creative Greensboro's Neighborhood Arts program, and in partnership with NAI, newcomers to the city shared personal stories of identity, resilience, connection, and belonging to inform the creation of new artwork, and selected the bus shelters as locations for this new art.
NAI received a $15,000 grant in 2025 from Creative Greensboro to support this arts project. This grantee organization launched "Community Art in Transit: Stories of Home and Hope," to highlight public transportation as a key service to helping newcomers adapt to their new home, and selected Dely to work with clients of NAI to design the artwork.
