With support from CABEI, the modernization of the National School of Agriculture in El Salvador begins

San Salvador, October 29, 2025. To improve social infrastructure, the transformation of the Roberto Quiñónez National School of Agriculture (IENS-ENA) is underway, with financing of more than US$7.5 million from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

The work includes the renovation of five main buildings, where modern classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology will be installed. In addition, the roofs of more than 75 buildings will be renovated, including the replacement of asbestos roofing, gutter replacement, and waterproofing, thus modernizing all facilities.

The most notable element of the project will be the installation of a photovoltaic plant in the laboratory building, making IENS-ENA a pioneer in educational energy sustainability. This installation will not only reduce operating costs but also serve as a laboratory for students in the new engineering programs. In addition, the existing roof slab will be waterproofed, and air conditioning equipment will be installed.

The modernization will directly benefit 1,000 students, parents, teachers, and employees, but its reach extends to more than 200,000 residents of 15 municipalities in La Libertad, Sonsonate, and Santa Ana. IENS-ENA plans to welcome students from all over Central America, positioning El Salvador as a regional benchmark in agro-industrial education.

This transformation is possible thanks to CABEI's strategic support, which reaffirms its commitment to the educational development of its member countries. This support not only represents an investment in infrastructure but also a clear commitment to the future of higher education and to improving people's quality of life.
