Edinburg Named One of the Top U.S. Cities Where Millennials Earn the Most

Edinburg, TX - The City of Edinburg continues to stand out on the national stage, this time for its thriving Millennial workforce. According to SmartAsset's 2025 "Millennial Earnings Premium" study, Edinburg ranks among the Top 25 cities in the United States where Millennials earn the highest income premiums-and is the only city in Texas to make the list.

The nationwide study analyzed 357 of the largest U.S. cities to determine where Millennials-adults born between 1981 and 1996-are earning the most relative to the overall local population. The findings reveal that Millennials in Edinburg earn an impressive 32.23% more than the city's median household income.

  • Median Millennial household income: $79,139

  • Median household income (all ages): $59,851
Across the U.S., Millennials earn an average premium of just 8.8% in large cities, making Edinburg's 32.23% premium a standout success.

"Edinburg continues to attract and retain a young, educated, and ambitious workforce," said Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. "This recognition is a reflection of our growing opportunities, diverse economy, and the investments we've made in making Edinburg a great place to live, work, and raise a family."

The study notes that the earnings gap can vary significantly from city to city, largely due to the balance between local industries and workforce qualifications. While some cities struggle to see Millennials break even with local median incomes, Edinburg's strong growth in healthcare, education, technology, and public service sectors continues to provide higher-paying career opportunities for young professionals.

SmartAsset's findings position Edinburg as a rising economic hub in South Texas-where talent, innovation, and opportunity align for the next generation of leaders.
