For years, retail media has largely been defined by what happens near the point of purchase. At this year's Showcase, The Drop, Best Buy shared a broader vision: a connected media, commerce and technology business designed to help brands influence consumers from inspiration to sale and measure impact every step of the way.
"Technology is becoming more personal every day, and that creates an opportunity for brands to connect with consumers in much more meaningful ways. With more than 220 million customer relationships and billions of annual interactions, Best Buy has a unique understanding of how people discover, evaluate and buy technology," said Lisa Valentino, Chief Ads and Media Officer at Best Buy. "By starting with real purchase behavior and working backward, we're helping advertisers better understand customer intent, reach consumers wherever they're making decisions and measure impact from awareness all the way to the sale. That's why we're investing in new capabilities, new partnerships and new experiences, and it's why the momentum we're seeing across Best Buy Ads continues to accelerate."
The Drop introduced new capabilities, partnerships and research that reinforce Best Buy's growing role in media. Here are the five biggest drops from the event:
Best Buy announced the launch of Best Buy CTV, bringing together premium streaming inventory, audience intelligence and measurement capabilities specifically designed for technology and consumer electronics brands.
It's an expanded relationship with Amazon Fire TV, giving advertisers access to premium inventory across the Fire TV experience on Insignia televisions. Best Buy also introduced a first-of-its-kind bundle with LG and Roku, combining premium streaming inventory, exclusive home-screen opportunities and audience targeting powered by Best Buy's understanding of device ownership, refresh cycles and purchase intent.
Through these partnerships, Best Buy CTV enables brands to stream :30-second creative across premium streaming apps and FAST channels through Amazon, LG and Roku inventory, helping advertisers reach consumers on some of the most valuable screens in the home.
To help advertisers better understand performance across the customer journey, Best Buy introduced a new multi-touch attribution solution that provides visibility across onsite and offsite media, sponsored products, paid search, CTV, social, influencers, affiliates and in-store experiences.
The company also announced expanded incrementality testing capabilities, helping advertisers understand not only which media influenced a sale, but which media actually caused one. Together, these tools give marketers a more complete view of the path from awareness to purchase and help guide future investment decisions.
As creator content becomes an increasingly important part of product discovery, Best Buy announced the expansion of Best Buy Studios and Best Buy Creators for advertisers.
The offering brings together established creators, trusted product reviewers and Best Buy's own Blue Shirts, giving brands access to voices consumers already trust for technology guidance. Combined with Best Buy's creative production capabilities, advertisers can develop content that reaches customers across social, streaming and commerce environments. What makes this so unique is its connection to measurement and sales outcomes, allowing brands to connect creator content directly to business results.
Physical stores continue to play an important role in an increasingly digital world. Best Buy is transforming its stores into activation and experience hubs where customers can see, touch and experience rapidly evolving technologies firsthand. The company is expanding immersive brand environments and takeover opportunities while continuing to invest in new store formats and locations. And new categories such as collectibles, physical media and 3D printing are bringing new audiences into the Best Buy ecosystem.
Circana conducted a first-of-its-kind study examining the impact of Best Buy Ads. The findings reinforced Best Buy's position as more than a retail media network, demonstrating its ability to influence demand and drive outcomes across the broader retail landscape.
Among the findings, Best Buy Ads outperformed the national media ROAS average by 17%. The research also found that while Best Buy Ads represented just 17% of media spend analyzed, it generated 35% of measured media contribution to sales at Best Buy. Additionally, Best Buy Ads drove nearly 16% of media-driven sales at competing retailers and generated 9.9% of the measured brand equity included in the study.
