Addis Statement on the Announcement of California Farmworker Day

For immediate release:
Friday, March 20, 2026

MONTEREY- Assemblymember Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay) issued the following statement after the announcement by Speaker Robert Rivas (D-Hollister) regarding new legislation to honor California Farmworker Day:

"I am grateful for the strength of the Chavez survivors - and to survivors everywhere - for their strength and courage, and I am proud to support the Legislature's efforts to help California begin to heal with a state holiday for farmworkers.

"Farmworkers' rights, giving people a voice, and ensuring fair treatment takes collective effort and that's what the movement has always been - thousands rising up for fairness. It is vital that now California doubles-down on preserving existing pathways to justice for child sex abuse survivors and continues to strengthen our protection so that time is never a barrier for those seeking justice."

Assemblymember Addis will support the legislation following its introduction.

Dawn Addis was elected to the California State Assembly in 2022 to represent the coastal 30th Assembly District, which includes San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and Santa Cruz Counties. She is the Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1 on Health.
