2026 FIATA Global Industry Perceptions Survey: Do Not Miss Your Chance to Contribute

With the closing date approaching, FIATA reminds its Members to take part in the 2026 FIATA Global Industry Perceptions Survey and share their perspectives on the trends, challenges and opportunities shaping the global logistics landscape. The survey remains open to Members across all four FIATA regions: Region Europe (REU), Region Americas (RAMS), Region Africa Middle East (RAME) and Region Asia-Pacific (RAP).

Broad participation across the regions ensures the findings reflect the full diversity of the industry, allowing FIATA to draw a more accurate and representative picture of the global freight forwarding community.

The results will be featured in the 2026 FIATA Market Report and presented during the 2026 FIATA World Congress in Milan, 6-9 October 2026. Members who have not yet responded are encouraged to complete the survey before it closes.

Regional Cooperation: FIATA Supports Expo Supply Chain ACACIA 2026 and Advances Regional Dialogue on Digitalisation

On 7 August 2026, FIATA Director General, Dr Stéphane Graber represented FIATA at the invitation of its Association Member in Costa Rica, Asociación Costarricense de Agencias de Carga, Consolidadores y Logística Internacional (ACACIA), for the inauguration of the first Expo Supply Chain ACACIA 2026. The event brought together public authorities, logistics professionals and supply chain stakeholders from across the region.

Held in the presence of the Minister of Economy, Industry and Commerce, Her Excellency María del Milagro Solórzano, and the Vice-Minister of Foreign Trade, Her Excellency Arianna Arce, the Director General delivered the opening keynote address, highlighting FIATA's centenary year and the increasingly important role of freight forwarders in connecting global trade and supply chains. He emphasised the need for resilient and adaptable supply chains in an environment characterised by geopolitical uncertainty, evolving trade patterns and growing regulatory requirements, while underscoring the importance of digitalisation, collaboration and trusted data exchanges in managing increasing supply chain complexity. He also highlighted FIATA's commitment to equipping its Members with the tools, standards and expertise needed to navigate this evolving landscape.

The opening was followed by a meeting between FIATA and Mr Adrián Pérez Edwards, the newly appointed Director General of Customs of Costa Rica, to discuss trade facilitation, digitalisation initiatives and the potential of the digital, negotiable FIATA Multimodal Transport Bill of Lading (eFBL) to support efficient and secure customs processes and international trade.

The Director General also met with representatives of all FIATA Association Members in Central America, including Costa Rica (ACACIA), El Salvador (Asociación Salvadoreña de Agencias de Carga - ASAC), Guatemala (Asociación Guatemalteca de Agencias de Carga - AGAC), Honduras (Asociación Hondureña de Agencias de Carga y Logística Internacional - AHACI), and Panama (Asociación Panameña de Agencias de Carga - APAC).

Discussions focused on regional priorities and opportunities for enhanced cooperation, including FIATA's digitalisation initiatives, wider implementation of the eFBL, promotion of the new United Nations (UN) Convention on Negotiable Cargo Documents, and the implications of the unilateral liability changes introduced by International Air Transport Association (IATA) in connection with the Direct Air Waybill (DAWB), which continue to be opposed by FIATA.

One of the key outcomes of the visit was the confirmation of the importance of direct engagement between the FIATA Headquarters and its Association Members. Such exchanges strengthen communication, encourage greater participation in FIATA initiatives, ensure that regional concerns and priorities are well reflected in FIATA's global work, and increase good awareness and understanding of FIATA's advocacy work, standards, digitalisation initiatives and strategic objectives across the membership.

Sustainability: European Commission Adopts Simplified Sustainability Reporting Standards

Earlier this month, the European Commission adopted the delegated act revising the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), a further step in the implementation of the Omnibus I simplification package. Alongside the revised ESRS, the Commission also adopted a voluntary reporting standard for companies that fall outside the scope of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

The revised standards reduce the number of mandatory disclosure datapoints by more than 60%, introduce greater flexibility for value chain reporting, and simplify several requirements, while maintaining the overall objectives of the CSRD. The new voluntary standard also introduces a value chain cap, meaning that companies subject to the CSRD cannot require companies in their value chains to provide more information than the voluntary standard covers.

For freight forwarders, these changes represent a more proportionate approach to sustainability reporting. While many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) remain outside the direct scope of the CSRD, reporting requirements continue to reach them through their supply chains, as larger customers request environmental, social and governance (ESG) information from their logistics providers. The value chain cap and the new voluntary standard therefore offer smaller operators a more predictable and manageable basis on which to respond to such requests.

As the global voice of freight forwarders, FIATA supports the transition towards a more sustainable supply chain while ensuring that the interests of freight forwarders, in particular SMEs, are safeguarded. FIATA encourages its European-based Members to familiarise themselves with the revised requirements and remains available to support them as sustainability reporting continues to evolve.

2026 FIATA World Congress: Celebrating 100 Years in Milan

The 2026 FIATA World Congress will take place in Milan from 6 to 9 October 2026, co-organised with Federazione Nazionale delle Imprese di Spedizioni Internazionali (FEDESPEDI) and marking a landmark occasion, FIATA's centenary. One hundred years after its founding, the Congress brings the global freight forwarding and logistics community together for four days of high-level debate, exchange and celebration.

At the centre of the programme sits a series of expert panels on the forces reshaping international trade, from shifting supply chains and multimodal corridors to digitalisation, customs, sustainability and risk management. Alongside the sessions, an exhibition floor and a full social programme will offer ample opportunity to connect, do business and celebrate this historic milestone in the heart of Milan.

Scam Alert: Beware of Fraudulent Emails

FIATA wishes to warn its Members of fraudulent emails currently in circulation, which falsely claim that participant lists for FIATA Events are available to buy.

Please note that the participants list for any FIATA Event cannot be purchased. FIATA follows stringent data protection laws, and the personal data of attendees is handled with due care. Any emails claiming to sell such information are fraudulent and should be treated as spam.

Members are encouraged to exercise caution with any unsolicited message, especially where the identity of the sender cannot be readily confirmed. Communications of this kind are intended to mislead recipients into sharing sensitive information or authorising payments that they would not otherwise make.

Particular attention should be paid to the sender's email address. Legitimate communications from FIATA originate from trusted domains such as @fiata.org. Addresses containing unusual additions or unrelated domains should be treated with caution. The content of the message may also provide warning signs including:

• spelling or grammatical errors
• requests for confidential information
• language designed to create urgency
