Access to the University of Wyoming campus via 13th Street will close Friday, June 12, for about 10 days.
The closure is necessitated by a city of Laramie waterline and street construction project that also required closing 14th Street between Ivinson and Grand; 15th Street between Grand and Ivinson; and Ivinson between Eighth and 15th streets.
Americans with Disabilities Act and service vehicle access will be maintained via a single lane on 12th Street during the closure of the 13th Street/Ivinson Avenue intersection. People struggling to access campus can contact the UW Transportation Services office by calling (307) 766-7433, so special accommodations on the Paratransit ADA transit service can be made.
The 13th Street closure will affect UW Transportation Services' Express Route. The bus stop currently located at Simpson Plaza won't be served by the Express Route during this closure. The new location on main campus served by the Express Route will be the Anthropology Building bus stop located on the 1200 Block of Bradley Street. This stop will be the pickup and drop-off location for Express buses servicing the East and South Express lots. This stop takes the place of the Simpson Plaza stop during the closure.
People using the bus service are advised to plan for 15 minutes of increased travel time.
There are no planned changes to UW's Link Route. If a bus rider wishes to transfer from the Express Route to the Link Route (or vice versa), it's recommended that they do so using the East Lot and Early Care and Education Center stops.
The parking lot along 14th Street between Grand and Ivinson avenues -- known as the Cooper or Brown 107 lot -- is closed for about two and a half weeks starting today (Thursday). People who use the 14th Street parking lot are encouraged to use UW's Ivinson Parking Garage during the closure.
The closure of 15th Street between Grand and Ivinson is expected to last through July, and the closure of Ivinson between Eighth and 15th streets is scheduled to last until mid-October.
