Published: Apr 29, 2026

Scheduled Monday, May 4, 2026, through June 30, 2026, Monday-Friday, 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Contra Costa County & Marin County - Caltrans will conduct overnight lane closures on eastbound I-580 Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, impacting lanes #1 and #2 (the two far-left lanes) from the eastern end of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge in Richmond to the Stenmark Drive on-ramp. For safety reasons, lanes #1 and #2 will be closed nightly Monday through Friday; beginning, Monday, May 4, 2026, through June 30, 2026, between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM, to facilitate permanent repairs to the Scofield Avenue undercrossing. Access from Stenmark Drive to I-580 will remain accessible. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Drivers are advised to adhere to the reduced speed limit of 40 MPH and prepare to merge. No construction or visible work is taking place on I-580 for this project.

The Richmond-San Rafael Bridge remains safe and open for travel despite ongoing lane closures.
