The American Cement Association (ACA) has a need for the SPEED Act… and it's not alone. The move to pare down the cumbersome permitting process that has limited progress for manufacturers across the country couldn't come fast enough!
Today the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee considered the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development Act (SPEED Act). The ACA thanks Committee Chair Bruce Westerman (R-AR) and Rep. Jared Golden (D-CA) for introducing the bill in August.
The measure aims to modernize the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to streamline the federal permitting system, resulting in quicker completion of infrastructure and energy projects, a boost in economic development, and better use of taxpayer dollars.
Not only do America's cement manufacturers provide the building materials for our nation's infrastructure, they depend on energy production and carbon management technologies that could require NEPA review for manufacturing.
For these reasons, the ACA supports the SPEED Act and urges lawmakers to move full speed ahead with its passage.
