Friday Lane Closures on I-20 as Resurfacing Project Begins
DOUGLASVILLE - Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will install daytime lane closures on Interstate 20 (I-20) this weekend as crews begin an a resurfacing project from east of Liberty Road to east of State Route 5/Bill Arp Road (SR 5) in Douglas County. Resurfacing improves the condition of the roadway materials and provides a smoother ride for drivers.
Weather and on-site conditions permitting, alternating single left or right lanes will be closed on I-20 westbound throughout the project limits beginning 9 p.m. on Friday, May 9, until 5 a.m. on Saturday.

These closures will help ensure the safety of drivers and workers as crews begin milling, inlay and resurfacing operations on the roadway. This $29 million project is scheduled for completion in late fall 2025.
As always, motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds in the work zone. Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
