New AI Assistant available in the Volter database

Volter's new AI Assistant is designed for searching international articles. Please note that the search does not include printed materials or all international articles in Volter. AI Assistant can be used to explore a new topic or to find answers to specific questions. You can access AI Assistant once you are logged in to Volter.

What is the Volter AI Assistant?

The Volter AI Assistant is intended for searching international articles found on Volter.

AI Assistant does not search the Library's printed materials, and printed materials are not used to generate abstracts. You can search for printed material in the usual way from the Volter home page.

What are the key features of AI Assistant?

  • AI Assistant makes it easier to learn about a new topic and provides quick answers to individual questions.

  • AI Assistant allows you to search in your preferred natural language instead of using a search phrase.

  • AI Assistant searches for a few sources and uses them to generate a summary of the searched topic. Please note that it is always up to the user to evaluate the accuracy of the content of the answer and the sources used.

  • Unlike many other AI tools, Volter's AI Assistant does not currently support the continuation of a conversation. Therefore, any clarifications to the question will have to be formulated as a completely new question.

Where are the instructions?

You can find instructions on the AI Assistant homepage. Click on the "How does AI Assistant work" button on the homepage to open the instructions.

Quick Guide to Volter gives you general information about AI Assistant. The Quick Guide also contains a more comprehensive list of resources that are missing from AI Assistant, as AI Assistant does not search comprehensively for all international articles in Volter.

How do I access AI Assistant?

AI Assistant can be accessed by logging into the Volter database and selecting AI Assistant from the top bar.

Volter's other search tools will not be disabled, and you can continue to use them as usual.
