City Council Elects New President and Vice President
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (January 9, 2026) - The New Brunswick City Council elected a new Council President and Vice President during its reorganization meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
Council Member Manuel J. Castañeda, who previously served as City Council Vice President, was elevated to Council President. He has been on the City Council since 2023.
Councilmember Petra N. Gaskins was elected Council Vice President. She has been on the City Council since 2023.
