PHILADELPHIA - The Office of Innovation and Technology announced the launch of the SPARK Innovation Academy, a fully city-sponsored program designed to help professionals strengthen their organizations through digital skills, tools, and strategies. The first cohort, in partnership with Jefferson University, will focus on transformative technology for nonprofits.
From artificial intelligence (AI) to data visualization tools and digital collaboration tools, SPARK Innovation Academy will provide training that empowers nonprofit professionals across different industries to operate more efficiently, expand their reach, and better serve Philadelphia communities.
"Philadelphia's nonprofits are lifelines for residents, from food security to workforce training to cultural programming," said Mayor Cherelle L. Parker. "By equipping these organizations with stronger digital capacity, SPARK Innovation Academy strengthens our entire city."
Through SPARK Innovation Academy, selected nonprofit professionals will take part in:
"Nonprofits are the backbone of Philadelphia," said Melissa Scott, Chief Information Officer for the City of Philadelphia. "When they have access to the right digital tools and knowledge, they can focus more time and energy on what matters most, serving their communities. The Office of Innovation and Technology is excited to provide 20 nonprofit professionals full-ride scholarships for the SPARK Innovation Academy, giving them the confidence to embrace the future of technology in a way that makes sense for them."
Applications for the first cohort of the SPARK Innovation Academy are open now until November 14. Nonprofit professionals eager to future-proof their organizations and maximize their impact are strongly encouraged to apply.
