Dec. 4, 2025 (DENVER) - Attorney General Phil Weiser today announced that PersonalTConsulting LLP, which operated as Personal Tradelines, will stop offering its credit repair services to Colorado consumers and pay $20,000 in penalties under a settlement resolving violations of the Colorado Credit Services Organization Act.
The settlement alleges that the company marketed services claiming to improve consumers' credit scores by adding them as "authorized users" on credit card accounts belonging to people with stronger credit, a practice known as piggybacking. The company also allegedly charged consumers in advance, made unsubstantiated or misleading representations about the benefits of purchasing tradelines-revolving credit lines found on a consumer's credit report-and failed to provide disclosures required under state law.
"Colorado law requires transparency, honesty, and fairness from any business promising to help consumers repair or build their credit," Attorney General Weiser said. "When companies offer piggybacking, charge people upfront for services, misrepresent what those services can achieve, or fail to provide legally required disclosures, they put financially vulnerable consumers at risk. This settlement reinforces that we will hold credit services organizations accountable when they harm consumers."
The company also advertised that buying tradelines was "one of the best methods for potentially improving your credit score" and claimed consumers could "share the credit history" of another person's account-even though those consumers were expressly prohibited from using those accounts or interacting with the account owners or creditors.
Under the settlement, Personal Tradelines agreed to cease providing credit repair services to Colorado consumers, comply with all provisions of the law going forward, and pay the state $20,000 in administrative penalties.
Coloradans who believe they have been harmed by a credit services organization or other financial services provider may file a complaint with the Department of Law at stopfraudcolorado.gov (opens new tab).
