Plan Ahead for May: Proclamations and Shine a Light on NFEmpty heading

May is NF Awareness Month, and it is an important time of the year to make NF visible. Two impactful ways to take action are securing an official proclamation and lighting up buildings in blue and green. Both efforts require planning well in advance, so now is the time to get started.

Request a Proclamation
A proclamation is an official statement from a mayor, governor, or other government leader recognizing May as NF Awareness Month or recognizing World NF Awareness Day on May 17. Proclamations help elevate awareness locally and show public support for the NF community.

Because government offices often need weeks or months to process requests, proclamation requests should be submitted as early as possible.

Shine a Light on NF
Each May, landmarks, buildings, homes, and businesses around the world light up in blue and green to show support for people living with NF. The Shine a Light on NF campaign creates powerful visibility and sparks conversations in communities everywhere.

Many buildings plan lighting schedules far in advance, so early outreach is key to participating in May.
