Weekend update

Halifax Regional Police responded to 635 calls for service over the weekend. One notable incident is as follows:

Police lay robbery charges

On March 6 at approximately 7:10 p.m. police responded to a robbery at the Petro Canada, located at 610 Portland Street, in Dartmouth. Staff reported a man and woman entered the store and the man jumped over the counter. He took a quantity of cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot. Staff were not physically injured.

Through the course of the investigation, officers identified the two suspects. On March 8, they were located and arrested. Investigators also determined the two suspects were responsible for multiple other robbery and theft incidents in Halifax and Dartmouth between March 2 and March 8.

Brandon Jennings, 31, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Robbery (x3)
  • Theft under $5000.00 (x4)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00 (x7)
  • Breach of probation order (x8)
  • Breach of release order (x4)
  • Disguise with intent (x4)

Remy MacQuarrie, 23, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Robbery (x2)
  • Theft under $5000.00 (x2)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00 (x4)
