BLM Offers One Dollar Firewood Permits in Chester, California

SUSANVILLE, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management is offering $1 firewood permits to collect downed trees burned in the 2021 Dixie Fire on BLM-managed public land near the Chester Airport.

This low-cost permit provides individuals and families with the opportunity to collect their own firewood on public land for $1 per cord, while helping remove dead trees. Clearing these trees supports healthier, more resilient forests, and improves habitat for a variety of plants and wildlife.

Firewood permits for collection in this area can be purchased online at forestproducts.blm.gov and are available until all downed trees have been collected. The Chester Airport Parcel Fuelwood Collection Area map shows the designated collection area. Please keep vehicles on existing roads while collecting firewood. For questions, contact the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office at 530-257-0456.
