Vance Takes to the Podium After Trump Doubles Down on His Disregard for Americans’ Economic Pain Arrow

FIRST: Donald Trump openly admitted that Americans' financial situations are not motivating him…

Trump: "I don't think about Americans' financial situations, I don't think about anybody."

THEN: …Trump doubled down on his comments, calling them "perfect."

Trump: "That's a perfect statement. I'd make it again."

As JD Vance takes the podium today to host the White House press briefing, will he defend Trump's disinterest in the financial pain Americans are feeling in the Trump-Vance economy?

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"Donald Trump and JD Vance are proving once again just how out of touch they are with everyday Americans. Trump isn't even pretending to care about working families struggling in his economy, and Vance is grasping at straws trying to defend him, even as Trump doubles down. Meanwhile, Trump and Vance are forcing Americans to shoulder the costs of their deadly and costly war with Iran, a $1 billion ballroom, and tax cuts for the rich while prices increase by the day."

Americans are grappling with sky-high prices, as Trump and Vance's inflation surged to 3.8% in April, the highest in three years, and Americans' wages are being consumed by skyrocketing costs. Now, as Americans prepare for Memorial Day weekend travel, the cost of gas for this weekend is at its highest average since 2022.

Meanwhile, the job market is in shambles: Unemployment remains high and a growing number of people are being forced to take on part-time jobs because they are unable to find full-time jobs. Consumer sentiment in Trump's economy recently hit its lowest point since 1952.
