FirstHealth to Expand Family Medicine and Interventional Pain Services in Harnett County

LILLINGTON, N.C. - Mountcastle Medical, located at 701 S. Main Street in Lillington, will join FirstHealth of the Carolinas on July 20, 2026, expanding access to family medicine and interventional pain medicine services in Harnett County through two new FirstHealth practices.

Two New FirstHealth Practices Coming to Lillington

The new practices will include FirstHealth Family Medicine with Kayla Watts, PA-C, and FirstHealth Interventional Pain Medicine with Brandy Mountcastle, PA-C.

Practice Transition and Reopening Timeline

The practices will temporarily close July 16 through August 7 to allow for operational transition and staff training. Both practices are expected to reopen to patients on August 10.

The practices will transition to FirstHealth's Epic electronic health record, providing patients with access to an online patient portal through FirstHealth MyChart. MyChart allows patients the opportunity to manage appointments, review test results, communicate with their provider and even refill a prescription all from the convenience of a phone, tablet or computer.

"We are excited to expand access to high-quality health care services in Harnett County," said Dan Barnes, D.O., president of FirstHealth Physician Group.

"Brandy, Kayla and their team of health care professionals have built strong relationships within the community, and we are pleased to continue providing patients with convenient access to trusted care close to home."

Meet Kayla Watts, PA-C

FirstHealth Family Medicine will provide comprehensive primary care services and will be led by Watts. Watts earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a concentration in human biology from North Carolina State University and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Wingate University.

She previously worked as a medical assistant in dermatology before becoming a physician assistant.

Meet Brandy Mountcastle, PA-C

Mountcastle will offer specialized pain medicine services with FirstHealth Interventional Pain Medicine through a provider services agreement with Providence Anesthesia. Mountcastle is an experienced physician assistant with expertise in pain management, addiction medicine, neurology, sleep medicine and holistic care.

A Harnett County native, Mountcastle earned her Bachelor of Scienced degree in microbiology with a minor in biochemistry from Methodist University before completing the Physician Assistant Studies program at Methodist University. She has practiced as a physician assistant since 2009 and is passionate about serving patients in her home community.

"Caring for patients in Harnett County has always been deeply personal to me," Mountcastle said. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this community while expanding access to care through FirstHealth."

Patients should note that Mountcastle Laser & Aesthetics is not part of this transition and will continue to operate separately.
