Mayor Cahill Helps Open Martirene Alcántara Art Exhibit at Consulate

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (February 10, 2026) - Mayor Jim Cahill attended the opening of a new art exhibit at The Consulate of Mexico in New Brunswick, 390 George St, Suite 100, featuring the art of Martirene Alcántara. Alcántara is a Mexican-American visual artist whose work seamlessly bridges photography and painterly abstraction.

In Martirene's artwork, architecture, materials, and geometry interact with light, evolving into a language that tells stories or simply proposes a focal point that captures the viewer's gaze and evokes ideas that suggest more than what is seen.
