City of Lancaster Announces Annual Love Your City Neighborhood Clean-Up Event on October 24

Lancaster, CA. October 23, 2026 - Community members, church congregations, and youth organizations are gearing up to transform local neighborhoods during the annual Love Your City Clean-Up event on Saturday, October 24.

This year's efforts span 635 homes in the area bounded by West Avenue J to West Avenue J8 and 10th Street West to Sierra Highway. More than 400 volunteers, including teams from local churches, IMPACT Youth, Lancaster H.O.M.E. program youth, and the Cub Scouts, will work across six designated neighborhood zones to pick up litter and revitalize public spaces.

"A strong community starts with people who care enough to make a difference," said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. "Love Your City is about taking pride in where we live and showing up for our neighbors. When hundreds of people come together to improve our neighborhoods, that's what makes Lancaster special. It's a reminder that we all have a part to play in making our City a better place to call home."

Volunteers will kick off the day at Grace Chapel at 9 a.m. for check-in, an invocation, and a safety briefing before departing for their assigned cleanup zones. Following the morning of work, participants will return to Grace Chapel at noon for lunch.

Lancaster residents are invited to use a free bulk item drop-off location at the Lancaster School District Offices parking lot on Fig Avenue. Operating from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., the site provides a convenient way for neighbors to dispose of large household items safely. Drivers must be in line on Fig Avenue by 11:15 a.m. to enter before the site closes.

"What I love about this event is seeing our community come together for a common purpose," said Vice Mayor Lauren Hughes-Leslie. "From our local churches and youth groups to families and neighbors, everyone is giving their time to make a difference. We're not just cleaning up streets. We're building connections, strengthening neighborhoods, and showing what we can accomplish when we work together."

In addition to neighborhood beautification, this year's initiative features a community food drive benefiting Grace Resources. Volunteers and residents are encouraged to bring nonperishable canned goods during morning check-in at Grace Chapel or while dropping off items at the Fig Avenue site.

The Love Your City cleanup reflects Lancaster's ongoing dedication to strong neighborhoods and active civic engagement, bringing together city departments and local volunteers to enhance the community.
