On Wednesday, February 18, Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruță, had a meeting at the MoND headquarters, with the Ambassador of Japan to Bucharest, H.E. Katae Takashi.
During the talks, the two officials addressed topics related to the status and prospects of bilateral defence cooperation. In this regard, the meeting between the Romanian and Japanese officials, which took place recently during the Munich Security Conference, was also recalled.
Minister of National Defence stressed the importance of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and Japan, and our country's interest in enhancing dialogue in areas such as cybersecurity, research and innovation, as well as in participating in joint initiatives at international level.
"Romania particularly appreciates the solid relationship with Japan and reaffirms its openness to enhancing defence cooperation, in an increasingly complex security context. Dialogue with partners who share the same values and principles is essential for increasing stability and resilience both in the Euro-Atlantic area and at global level," the Minister of National Defence said.
The two officials also emphasized the need to enhance cooperation between partner states in the face of current security challenges and hybrid threats, stressing the important role of international collaboration in ensuring regional resilience and stability.
