On I-16/SR 404 (Eastbound and Westbound) over Ocmulgee River Overflow; Final Traffic Shift Scheduled to Newly Constructed Bridge on October 3

WHAT: Weather permitting, October 3, 2026, GDOT Contractors will be shifting westbound traffic back into its original configuration. The westbound traffic that is currently utilizing a detour will be shifted onto the newly constructed bridge.

The project consists of 0.652 mile of construction of a bridge and approaches on I-16/SR 404 (eastbound and westbound) over the Ocmulgee River Overflow..

WHEN: Starting October 3, 404 eastbound between Mile Markers 3 and 5 in East Macon, GA

Advisory: Dates may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
