The European Film Awards, recognising the best of European cinema, were handed out during a ceremony which took place on 17 January in Berlin.
Among the films receiving honours at the 38th edition of the event, five titles were supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA programme of the EU.
The big winner of the night was Sentimental Value by Joachim Trier, receiving six awards in total: Best European Film, Direction, Screenplay (Eskil Vogt and Joachim Trier), Actor (Stellan Skarsgård), Actress (Renate Reinsve), and Composer (Hania Rani).
Another film in focus was Sirāt by Oliver Laxe winning five awards in different categories, such as Best Cinematography (Mauro Herce), Best Editing (Cristóbal Fernández), Best Production Design (Laia Ateca), Best Sound Design (Yasmina Praderas, Amanda Villavieja, Laia Casanovas), and Best Casting Direction (Nadia Acimi, Luís Bértolo, María Rodrigo).
Additionally, Arco by Ugo Bienvenu won Best Animated Feature, the documentary Fiume o morte! by Igor Bezinović received the European Documentary Award, and Sound of Falling by Mascha Schilinski was recognised for Best Costume Design (Sabrina Krämer). The European Commission has granted €2,916,263 through the Creative Europe MEDIA programme to support the development and distribution of these films.
