Senator Schwank Announces $4.75 Million in Funding for Berks County Projects

Reading, PA - July 16, 2026 - Today, Sen. Judy Schwank (D-Berks) announced $4.75 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant funding for four projects in the 11th Senatorial District.

RACP is a state grant program administered by the Office of the Budget to support the design, acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. RACP awards require matching funds from a non-state source.

Schwank applauded the latest round of awards and thanked Governor Shapiro and her colleagues representing Berks County in the state legislature for their support.

"It's my priority to see that the investments we make at the state level have an impact in Berks County," Schwank said. "We have no shortage of projects in the pipeline, which speaks to the fact that our businesses, educational institutions and local governments are experiencing growth. That bodes well for the future of our community, and I'm sure there are many more exciting announcements to come."

The awards are listed below:

Borough of Wyomissing - $2,000,000 for facility upgrades to Wyomissing Borough Hall, the Wyomissing Police Department and other borough operations.

Exeter Township Volunteer Fire Department - $1,500,000 to establish a new, centralized emergency services building in Exeter Township to streamline operations and allow for faster response times.

Alvernia University - $750,000 to support the American House project, which will renovate a historic building and establish a community-based health center on Penn Street in Reading, in partnership with the Berks Community Health Center.

Rose Corporation - $500,000 to expand its large-scale industrial metal fabrication facility in Reading to meet growing demand.
