College of Education & Human Sciences to celebrate opening of PASS Office

The College of Education & Human Sciences (COEHS) will host an open house on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 1-4 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the Pathways for Academic Support and Success (PASS) Office.

The PASS Office will replace the former Center for Student Success (CSS).

In recent years, CSS staff have grown significantly, and several of their functions had expanded beyond the previous structure. As a result, the need for a properly sized, centralized location became vital.

Located in Travelstead Hall, the PASS Office will engage and assist COEHS students from their initial interest in studying at the college through their time as pre-majors and majors to successful degree completion.

PASS exists to help students envision and achieve success both in and out of the classroom.

The office includes three distinct teams:

  • The Advising Team, which assists undergraduate pre-majors and majors with their advising needs.
  • The Recruitment Team, which focuses on informing potential students about COEHS and strengthening connections with partners who refer students to the college.
  • The Student Success Team, which provides broad support for COEHS students, including undergraduate admissions procedures, workshops and events, and administrative functions of PASS.

PASS also helps students prepare for the future by offering a variety of programs, events and opportunities - including field service, leadership development, professional development and prospective student recruitment.

The center will also provide resources and one-on-one assistance virtually during designated hours throughout the week.

The open house will feature refreshments, presentations on the services offered and swag for attendees.
