An international conference at foreign minister level will be organised in New York on 28-30 July that aims to promote the implementation of a two-state solution in the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Permanent State Secretary Jukka Salovaara will represent Finland at the conference.

The conference has been convened by the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and it will be co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia. The discussions are set to continue at a high level in connection with the UN General Assembly Week in September. The conference was originally to be held in June, but it was postponed due to the situation in the Middle East.

"Finland supports a two-state solution as the only lasting way to ensure the rights and security of both Israelis and Palestinians. It is important that the international community will continue active efforts to strengthen the preconditions for peace and stability in the Middle East region," Permanent State Secretary Jukka Salovaara says.
