Office of Equity to hold info sessions on the Keep Washington Working Act on May 7

May 1, 2025

Join Western's Office of Equity and University Police Department for an important information session on immigration enforcement, campus safety, and the Keep Washington Working Act at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 in VU 565.

Washington State law continues to guide how institutions like WWU engage with federal immigration policies. Under RCW 10.93.160 and the Keep Washington Working Act, local law enforcement and public entities, including universities, are prohibited from using resources to assist with immigration enforcement or surveillance. Immigration enforcement remains the sole responsibility of federal authorities.

This information session is free and open to all members of the WWU campus community.

At this event, participants will review key elements of university policy, including:

  • The distinction between private vs. public spaces on campus
  • Expectations for employees under the KWW policy
  • Campus safety

The revised policy can be accessed here.
