CISAC highlights regional developments in new Latin America and the Caribbean newsletter

CISAC's regional office for Latin America and the Caribbean has published its latest newsletter, outlining key activities and developments involving member societies across the region. The March 2026 edition covers training initiatives, new agreements, and updates on copyright legislation.

The newsletter reports on regional training sessions organised by CISAC, including a programme on identifiers and metadata for music societies and negotiation training delivered to SAYCO in Colombia. These initiatives aim to strengthen the technical capacity of collective management organisations and support more effective licensing in the digital environment.

It also highlights lobbying efforts on key policy issues such as artificial intelligence, audiovisual remuneration rights, and the resale right for visual artists, alongside engagement with public authorities across the region.

The "Societies in Action" section spotlights several recent licensing agreements signed by member societies with broadcasters and digital platforms. Among them is a notable inter-institutional agreement between the Peruvian Association of Authors and Composers (APDAYC) and the Peruvian Congress to promote stronger copyright legislation that aligns with international standards and support specialised training in intellectual property.

The newsletter also includes a "Legal Matters of Interest" section with updates on legislative developments impacting creators' rights in several countries within the region.

The newsletter is available for download in English and Spanish.
