On Tuesday, April 15, asbestos abatement will begin at the Village-owned building at 233 E. Maple Ave., the former Trinity site. Asbestos abatement is confined to the inside of the building and will not impact the surrounding area. The Village anticipates the abatement process will be completed by Monday, April 21.
Residents can expect to see vehicles from the abatement company, Hogan Environmental, on-site during this process as well as an airtight, locking steel dumpster that will contain asbestos. Air from inside the building will be treated before being released through a dedicated air vent.
Asbestos abatement is being done to prepare the building for demolition. As part of the land swap agreement between the Village and the Roselle Public Library District, the Village is responsible for completing demolition of the Village-owned 233 E. Maple Ave. property. The 233 E. Maple Ave. property will transfer to the Library once demolition and site preparation is complete. Once the Library has taken ownership of the 233 E. Maple Ave. property, the Library will transfer ownership of their 40 S. Park St. parking lot to the Village. The Library will transfer ownership of their 40 S.
