Juveniles received into security unit were involved 612 thousand 651 incidents
The number of incidents involving juveniles received into security units was 612 thousand 651 in 2024 with an increase of 9.8% compared to 2023. In these incidents, 279 thousand 620 juveniles as victims, 202 thousand 785 as pushed into crime (for allegedly committed an act defined as a crime under the law), 96 thousand 438 as witnesses, 18 thousand 561 as lost (found), 8 thousand 729 with the allegation of committing a misdemeanor and 6 thousand 518 of them received into the security units for other reasons.

40.4% of the juveniles pushed into crime were involved in assault
Juveniles received into the security unit were involved 202 thousand 785 incidents due to being pushed into crime. 40.4% of these juveniles were charged with assault, 16.6% of these juveniles were charged with theft, 8.2% with the use, sale, and purchase of drugs, 4.6% with threat and 26.0% were pushed into crime for other reasons.

45.6% of the juveniles received to the security units were victimized juveniles
Of the total 279 thousand 620 juveniles received as victims in the security unit; 86.1% were victims of crime and 13.8% were victims of followed incident. 55.3% of 240 thousand 872 juvenile victims of crime were victims of assault, 10.8% of them were victims of sexual offences, 9.5% of them were victims of migrant smuggling, 8.0% of them were offences against family order and 16.5% victims of other types of incidents.

This study represents each case of a juvenile received into the security unit one or more times whose security records were kept and whose files were sent or not sent to the Office of the Prosecutor, whether Turkish citizen or not. In the data used, there is a separate record for each case that belongs to a person.
