Farmington Canal Heritage Trail Work in Plainville

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that work on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail between Town Line Road and Red Stone Hill Road will be performed in Plainville. This project is scheduled to occur on Thursday, December 18, 2025, and be completed on Friday, May 14, 2027. The project 0109-0175 consists of constructing .76 miles of multi-use trail between Town Line Road and Norton Park. The multi-use trail will consist of a 12-foot-wide paved surface and include other amenities such as signage for information and safety, benches and picnic tables, and a parking facility.

CTDOT Project No. 0109-0175 was awarded to Genovesi Construction LLC at a cost of $3,669,439.00 on November 3, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed May 14, 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

There may be lane and shoulder closures on Town Line Road and Red Stone Hill Road from Thursday, December 18, 2025, to Friday, May 14, 2027, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Traffic control signing patterns, flaggers, and police will guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
