WASHINGTON - Chairman of the Senate Education & the American Family Subcommittee Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) introduced a resolution celebrating the impact of career and technical education (CTE) educators and work-based learning coordinators. High-quality CTE prepares students for a lifetime of success-in the classroom and in the workplace-and supports workforce pipelines that bolster the broader American economy. This resolution is introduced during February, which marks Career and Technical Education Month.
As a former educator and coach, Sen. Tuberville believes it is critical that we prepare our students to compete in the modern-day workforce, especially in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
"Our schools should make sure students are set up to succeed in life, not just the classroom," said Senator Tuberville. "AI has changed the game when it comes to today's workforce. There's no reason why we shouldn't be preparing students to be successful in today's job market starting in high school or even earlier. As Chairman of the Education and the American Family Subcommittee, I'm focused on expanding technical and career educational opportunities for our young people. I'm grateful for Alabama's career and technical educators who are equipping the next generation with real-world skills that will lead to good-paying jobs."
Sen. Tuberville was joined by Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), Ranking Member of the Senate Education and the American Family Subcommittee, in introducing this resolution. It is cosponsored by Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Katie Britt (R-AL), Ted Budd (R-NC), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Jim Justice (R-WV), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Angus King (I-ME), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Ed Markey (D-MA), Adam Schiff (D-CA.), Thom Tillis (R-NC), and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD).
The resolution celebrating CTE educators is endorsed by the American Federation of Teachers, the Association for Career and Technical Education, Advance CTE, and the National Education Association.
