Super Bowl LX Flew to New Heights Thanks to NATCA Members

Mar 3, 2026

The Super Bowl LX numbers are in, and we're not talking about the final score of the game or TV ratings.

Our members at San Francisco International ATCT (SFO), Oakland ATCT (OAK), San Jose ATCT (SJC), Hayward ATCT (HWD) Livermore ATCT (LVK), NorCal TRACON (NCT), and Oakland Center (ZOA) worked together to handle a huge increase in traffic to the region because of Super Bowl LX. These professionals kept things running smoothly, all while enforcing temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) and adding safety measures around the stadium and other points of interest in San Francisco.

According to FlightRadar24, there was a 1,136% increase in private jet departures at five Bay Area airports - OAK, SFO, SJC, HWD, and LVK - in the hours after the Super Bowl on Sunday evening, compared to the previous Sunday.

The action didn't stop there. For over six straight hours on the Monday after the game, departures in the Bay were averaging over 100 aircraft per hour, peaking at 147 departures in a single 60-minute period.

To everyone who worked over Super Bowl weekend, thank you for your professionalism and dedication. Without you, events like this couldn't happen.
