U.S. Rep. Kelly Morrison Introduces Bipartisan Legislation to End Veteran Homelessness Nationwide

BLOOMINGTON, MN - Today, U.S. Representative Kelly Morrison (MN-03) announced her legislation to end veteran homelessness, the Housing for All Veterans Act.
32,000 veterans across the United States are homeless - but Minnesota is on the cusp of eradicating veteran homelessness completely. Representative Morrison's Housing for All Veterans Act will take Minnesota's success nationwide by guaranteeing housing vouchers to all low-income veterans to prevent and end homelessness.
Representative Morrison is a member of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee and is committed to ensuring veterans have the care and benefits they deserve - and have earned.
The Housing for All Veterans Act is the U.S. House companion to U.S. Senator Tina Smith's Senate bill of the same name. This bipartisan bill is co-led by Representative Mike Lawler (NY-17).
"We owe it to our veterans to see that they get the support and care they deserve when they return home - including making sure every veteran has access to safe and stable housing," said Congresswoman Morrison. "Here in Minnesota, we're close to ending veteran homelessness, and it's time to make sure that the rest of our country's veterans have this support too. I'm proud to introduce this bipartisan legislation so we can keep our promise to our veterans."
"The men and women who served our country shouldn't have to fight another battle when they come home, especially when it comes to keeping a roof over their heads. Here in New York and across the country, too many veterans are facing rising housing costs and financial pressures that put stability out of reach. This bipartisan legislation helps strengthen the safety net for veterans and their families, provides support before housing insecurity becomes a crisis, and honors our obligation to those who sacrificed for our nation. I'm proud to help lead this effort," said Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17).
This bill is endorsed by the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) and Disabled American Veterans of Minnesota (DAV MN).
"This legislation addresses the root cause of housing affordability, providing our veterans with a long-term, sustainable solution to secure housing. By ensuring access to rental assistance and prohibiting income discrimination, we give our veterans the stability they deserve and the opportunity to thrive in their communities," said Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) Chief Program Officer Nathaniel Saltz.
"DAV Minnesota supports the Housing for All Veterans Act because stable housing is essential to a veteran's health, dignity, and ability to thrive after service. This bill provides practical housing support for low-income veteran families before they fall deeper into crisis, while respecting the earned benefits and sacrifices of those who served. Veterans should not have to face housing instability alone, and DAV Minnesota appreciates Representative Morrison's leadership in advancing a bill that strengthens housing stability for veterans who served our nation," said Legislative Director of DAV MN Trent Dilks.
