The Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis visits Military Units within the region of Serres and Drama

The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Thanasis Davakis, visited on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September 2025 Military Units within the region of Serres and Drama, accompanied by the Commander NRDC-GR Lieutenant General Athanasios Garinis.

Mr. Davakis visited the "PROMACHONAS" frontier Outpost, where he was briefed by the Commander of the 10^thMechanised Brigade Brigadier General Georgios Liampasand had conversations with Armed Forces members and soldiers.

Then, he visited the E' Raiders Squadron in Drama, where he was welcomed by the Commander of the 1^stRaiders - Parachutists Brigade Brigadier General Theofanis Dimakos. There, he was briefed by the Commander of the E' Raiders Squadron Lieutenant Colonel Vasileios Kalyvinosabout the Unit's organization, mission and current activities and listened carefully to the issues that need to be resolved, in order to be addressed.

During his visit to the former Conscription Office of Drama and the non-operationally utilized "Triantafyllou" Camp, he had a meeting with the Association for the Disabled of the Regional Unit of Drama, in the context of which a thorough discussion was held about their accommodation, while during his visit to the Officers' Club of Drama Garrison, he had a meeting with forestry authorities and employees of the region's forestry cooperatives, where logging issues in the Covering Security Zone have been discussed.

Finally, the Deputy Minister visited the former ammunition depot in Drama; a property to be leased by the Municipality of Drama for the realization of the donation of the region's benefactor Aris Theodoridisfor the construction of sports grounds.

The above visits were also attended by the independent member of the Hellenic Parliament for Drama Dimitrios Kyriazidis.

Thanasis Davakis, following his visits, stated:
