SE grad student Hudson Toews earns Academic Excellence Scholarship from National Society of Leadership and Success

MIAMI, Fla. - The National Society of Leadership and Success has announced Southeastern Oklahoma State University graduate student Hudson Toews is one of 12 recipients nationwide of its Academic Excellence Scholarship.

The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) acknowledges higher education is one of the most valuable investments an individual can make, requiring commitment and discipline to persevere through the academic rigors of undergraduate or graduate studies. The NSLS recognizes inducted members who exemplify leadership accomplishments, as well as high academic standing.

Towes is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration degree in Southeastern's John Massey School of Business. He graduated from Southeastern with his bachelor's degree in business administration in 2018, then entered the workforce, starting his career in financial services with WoodmenLife.

The 32-year-old Calera native returned to Southeastern in pursuit of his MBA at the encouragement of his wife, Emalea, and plans on using his graduate degree to sharpen his knowledge of material which is crucial to his investment clients. He has also expressed interest in returning to Southeastern to teach business courses after completing this degree.

"My favorite class so far has been Managerial Accounting with Dr. Rhonda Richards, which I initially thought I would dread. Turns out balancing books can be extremely satisfying," Toews noted. "I have learned so much about finance which applies to my current career, and I know this degree will help me create new opportunities in the financial industry. I highly recommend going back for a graduate degree and to pursue the incredible opportunities that are available at Southeastern Oklahoma State University."

Toews was nominated for the National Society of Leadership and Success and its scholarship program by Dr. Ashley Hampton, who is the campus chapter advisor, director of graduate programs in the John Massey School of Business, and associate professor in the department of management and marketing.

"We are excited to congratulate Hudson on earning this prestigious scholarship from the National Society of Leadership and Success," Hampton said. "This recognition highlights Hudson's dedication to academic success and leadership, and we are proud to celebrate this achievement with him."
