Residents Invited to Shape Wildfire Resilience in the West Mono Basin

The Inyo National Forest and Whitebark Institute are seeking community input on how to build ecological resilience and reduce wildfire risk in the West Mono Basin watershed.

Residents are invited to share their priorities, concerns, and perspectives related to wildfire risk. Information gathered through this process will guide the development of projects aimed at reducing the risk of high-severity wildfires in the West Mono Basin.

"Our communities hold an incredible wealth of local knowledge about living with wildfire," said Kristen Pfeiler, Wildfire Coordinator for the Eastern Sierra Council of Governments. "By bringing that knowledge into the planning process, we can guide projects that not only reduce wildfire risk but also strengthen the long-term resilience of the West Mono Basin. These meetings are an exciting chance for residents to shape solutions rooted in both science and lived experience."
