Long Beach, CA -The City of Long Beach will host two community meetings on a proposed ordinance for food trucks and other mobile food facilities. The proposed ordinance will establish guidelines for permits, licenses, parking and general operating requirements, and is informed by community input gathered over several years as well as national best practices.
A virtual information meeting for Long Beach residents will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. At the meeting, community members will learn more about the proposed ordinance and will have opportunities to ask questions during a Q&A segment. People interested in attending can register here. The session will be recorded and made publicly available on the City's Mobile Food Facilities webpage as a resource for those unable to attend.
Additionally, an in-person meeting for current and prospective food truck and mobile food facility operators will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Billie Jean King Main Library (200 W. Broadway). At the event, operators will learn practical steps they can take to be in compliance with the potential ordinance. After a brief presentation, attendees will also have opportunities to speak with City staff and begin preparing paperwork that may be required once the ordinance is adopted. Pre-registration is encouraged for the in-person event but not mandatory. Mobile food facility operators can register here.
Interpretation services in Spanish, Khmer and Tagalog will be available at both meetings.
An online feedback form will be shared at the meetings, as well as made available on the Mobile Food Facilities webpage following the virtual meeting, for any public comments on the proposed ordinance. Staff will consolidate feedback and share it with the Long Beach City Council when the proposed ordinance is brought forward for adoption in early 2026.
The proposed ordinance was outlined in a memo released on Aug. 20, 2025, and presented to the City Council on Sept. 23, 2025. For more information about the proposed ordinance and to stay updated, visit longbeach.gov/mobilefoodfacilities.
