Updated, centralized resource website reflects Marquette’s mission‑guided approach to AI

Marquette has launched an updated version of its centralized artificial intelligence resource website, reflecting the university's mission-guided approach to a rapidly evolving technology.

Developed in partnership with colleagues across campus, the site serves as a central hub for AI-related resources, guidance and support. It brings together tools, policies and best practices to help faculty, staff and students navigate the use of AI in alignment with Marquette's values.

Rooted in Marquette's Catholic, Jesuit vision, the updated site emphasizes ethical, responsible and human-centered use of AI in ways that support teaching, research, operations and student success. It is designed to reduce uncertainty, provide shared expectations and offer practical guidance for the campus community as AI tools continue to evolve.

A key enhancement to the updated site is the addition of dedicated guidance for students. While earlier resources focused on faculty and staff, the revised site now addresses how students may encounter and responsibly use AI tools in learning, coursework and campus life.

"One of the most important updates to this resource is its expanded focus on students," said Laurie Panella, chief information officer and member of the AI Task Force executive team. "Much of the real learning around AI is happening in the classroom and practice settings, guided by our faculty. This site compliments that work by helping students think thoughtfully about how and when to use these tools in ways that support their learning and reflect our Jesuit values."

Artificial intelligence task force to share report later this summer

The launch of the refreshed site coincides with continued work by Marquette's cross-disciplinary artificial intelligence task force, which was announced in February.

Earlier this spring, the task force surveyed faculty and staff to better understand how artificial intelligence is - or is not - being used across teaching, clinical education, research, operations and areas related to student success and wellness. Data from the survey has been collected and assessed alongside other forms of campus feedback.

The task force is now developing a final report and recommendations informed by this input and Marquette's mission and values. These findings and recommendations will be shared with the campus community later this summer.
