Get help applying for scholarships through WWU's Scholarship Portal this month

March 25, 2026

Western's Scholarship Portal is open until April 27 for WWU students to apply for scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year, and the Scholarship Center is hosting several events to help students prepare their applications.

The Scholarship Portal is Western's one-stop access point to all WWU scholarships. The portal uses existing data, such as students' GPA, major, minor, etc., and application information to determine which scholarships students are eligible for.

All available WWU scholarship opportunities are accessed through the Scholarship Portal, and students who complete the prompts through the portal will be considered for all scholarships they qualify for.

While the WWU Scholarship Portal is open, the Scholarship Center will host informational drop-in sessions in the Haggard Hall 101 computer lab:

  • Tuesdays, April 7, 14, and 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Fridays, with essay writing assistance from the Hacherl Research & Writing Studio, April 3, 10, 17 and 24, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Scholarship Center recommends students begin their application early but submit it closer to the deadline to be considered for as many scholarships as possible. Once applications are submitted, they cannot be reopened.

More application tips from the Scholarship Center:

  • Declare your major or minor: Students must be officially declared to be eligible for scholarships in their areas of study.
  • To be considered for any need-based scholarships, complete the 2026-2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA).
  • The scholarship application will have a broad variety of essay prompts. Students can expect to provide information regarding their academic goals, interests, and experiences.
