24 February 2026, Geneva - As part of his visit to the Swiss Confederation, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi held a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Liechtenstein, Sabine Monauni.
During the talks, the parties noted the active bilateral dialogue in recent years and expressed their readiness to continue political and sectoral cooperation.
The two ministers discussed the prospects arising from the entry into force, on 1 April 2025, of the Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). They underlined their shared interest in supporting the business communities of both countries to make full use of the economic opportunities offered by the agreement. Issues related to the avoidance of double taxation were also discussed.
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi thanked Liechtenstein for the support provided through the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED). Over the past 17 years, LED has contributed to the implementation in the Republic of Moldova of projects worth nearly EUR 20 million, in the fields of education, vocational training, youth support and social services.
The parties also reviewed the priorities of the Republic of Moldova's Presidency of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers, and Minister Mihai Popșoi invited his counterpart, Sabine Monauni, to attend the ministerial session to be held in Chișinău in May.
