D.A. Bragg: Man Indicted For Kidnapping, Repeated Rape Of 15-Year-Old

October 9, 2026

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictment of GEORGE FRANCIS, 39, for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old girl in Connecticut, bringing her to his Manhattan apartment, and repeatedly raping her over the course of more than three months. FRANCIS is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with two counts of Kidnapping in the First Degree, four counts of Rape in the Third Degree, three counts of Assault in the Third Degree, and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.[1]

"As alleged, George Francis lured a 15-year-old girl from Connecticut to his Manhattan apartment, where he raped and abused her repeatedly over more than three months," said District Attorney Bragg. "We take prosecutions of anyone preying on children extremely seriously, and our Child Abuse Bureau is here to help in a trauma-informed, survivor-centered manner. Please call us at 212-335-4308."

As alleged in court documents and statements made on the record in court, FRANCIS approached the child in Connecticut on May 26, 2026, as she was walking home. They smoked together and then took the train back to his Manhattan apartment. He repeatedly raped and physically abused her over the next 3 ½ months and prevented her from leaving. US Marshals adopted the missing child case out of Connecticut. Through investigative measures, they were able to locate the child at the defendant's apartment on September 10, 2026. FRANCIS was arrested by the NYPD soon thereafter.

Assistant D.A. Emma Bausert is handling the prosecution of this case under the supervision of Assistant D.A.s Chloe Kendall (Deputy Chief of the Child Abuse Bureau), Samantha LiTrenta (Deputy Chief of the Child Abuse Bureau) and Heather Buchanan (Chief of the Child Abuse Bureau) and Executive Assistant D.A. Justin McNabney (Chief of the Special Victims Division). Trial Preparation Assistants Grace Mackey and Connor Murphy assisted with the case.

D.A. Bragg thanked the US Marshalls Service, as well as Detective Jesse Meade of the Bridgeport Police Department assigned to the US Marshals Service, and Detective Dusty Rubaine of the NYPD's Manhattan Adult Sex Crimes Squad.
